‘When Disaster Strikes, Community Rises’ | Sabine rallies following May 6 fire

Community members in the Liberty City area are rallying behind a local woman after her total loss in a fire Tuesday.

A grassroots drive is spurring donations toward Venmo, and in-person contributions are also being accepted following the blaze.

“Gail Wilson, a beloved Sabine Elementary teacher’s aide, lost her home and all her belongings in a devastating fire on May 6th,” according to the organizers. “In this time of great need, we invite our community to rally around her.
“Let’s come together to help her rebuild not just what was lost, but also restore her sense of stability and peace. Your support can make a world of difference.”

Online donations can be directed to @gswilson51 through Venmo’s platform, and physical donations are being pointed to 205 Verbena Drive (a Kilgore address in the Westpoint subdivision).
“Please text 903.522.1735 if dropping off,” according to a flyer about Wilson’s need. “Please share this flyer and spread the word.
“Every item, every dollar makes a difference. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.”
