CITY OF KILGORE

Spradlin faced challenger Darrin Mallett in the Spring 2025 election cycle.

There were 992 votes cast between Kilgore’s two polling places (Gregg County and Rusk County), everything centered on Kilgore City Hall. Two votes were listed as ‘Undervotes.’
Absent that pair, Spradlin collected 504 decisions to 486 for Mallett.

The challenger had a small lead in Absentee voting, 5 votes to 4. Spradlin had the edge in Early Voting (April 22-29), drawing 334 to Mallett’s 310, but Election Day slightly favored the challenger, 171 votes for Mallett to 166 for Spradlin.

The coming term will be Spradlin’s eighth full-stint in office. He was initially elected to finish out the second half of his predecessor’s term.

Also on the city’s ticket, Place 2 Councilman Alan VanDoren was unopposed this season in his re-election bid.

All-told, 827 voters showed their support for VanDoren’s return including seven Absentees, 543 early voters and another 277 on Election Day. (Leaving 165 Undervotes.)

VanDoren will begin his second term on the dais after votes are canvassed in May.

KILGORE ISD SCHOOL BOARD

Rachel Harrington drew no challenger in her re-election bid to Place 6 on the Kilgore ISD School Board.

Supporting voters cast 1,029 to send her into a new term (including 7 Absentee, 686 in Early Voting and 336 on Election Day).

In the Place 5 race, Tritt collected 836 total votes to 288 for newcomer Ubaldo Meraz. They were tied among Absentee votes with four apiece, and Tritt took the lead in Early Voting, 561 to 173. On Election Day, Tritt added 271 votes while Meraz collected another 111.

Facing a challenge from Rudy Galvan for Place 7, Sneed netted 6 out of 7 Absentee ballots and 420 Early Votes to 350. Galvan had the edge on Election Day, 218 votes to 174 for the incumbent.

The pair end the campaign 31 votes apart in Sneed’s favor out of 1,169 total.

KILGORE COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

For KC’s Central Zone (Unit 3, Place 9) this Spring’s ticket include Johnson, Verenice Ordorica and Ruth F. Williams.

Sharing a footprint with Kilgore ISD, 1,149 voters weighed in: 654 (56.92 percent) favored Johnson alongside 273 (23.76%) for Williams and 222 (19.32%) for Ordorica.

There were nine Absentee votes cast in the race, 750 Early Votes and 390 on Election Day, May 3.

Janice Bagley was unopposed in her re-election bid to the South Zone (Unit 1) Place 7 seat.

For the North Zone (White Oak ISD, Gladewater ISD and Sabine ISD), the ticket still included both Steele and Woodfin, the latter’s withdrawal landing after the ballot was set.

That said, while Woodfin notched five of six votes cast in Kilgore, Steele collected 162 out of 198 cast in White Oak ISD plus 154 (to 78) cast in Gladewater — 72.7 percent of the overall vote.
