“What would Teddy Roosevelt say today?”
It’s a question Jack Lanier has been pondering for some time, and he’ll make an effort to channel the 26th president and answer it Wednesday for the Rotary Club of Kilgore and guests.
The retired Air Force pilot and veteran police officer and chief is also a dedicated historical re-enactor. In addition to wearing the sheriff’s spurs at Dalton Days, Lanier’s been donning the guise of “The Hero of San Juan Hill” and bringing his perspective to modern audiences.
“He’s a very good speaker and puts on a good presentation,” says Kilgore Rotary Club President Tom Sartor, eager to invite the community at-large to experience the show during the group’s weekly luncheon April 30 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. “He talks about stuff that’s going on today,” working to bringing TR’s signature wisdom into the mix.
The adventure begins at noon at 314 N. Henderson Blvd. All are welcome, but reservations are requested to enjoy the day’s catered meal — the cost is $12 and RSVPs should be pointed to Sartor at 903-987-2925.
