Ministry partners with local dealership for turkey drive Saturday

The Kilgore Rooster’s safe for another day, but there are 350 frozen turkeys looking for new homes in Kilgore, and the formerly-feathered fowl are getting a hand from Gabriel/Jordan Buick GMC, 20/20 Vision Ministries and other community donors.

The partners will be giving away the turkeys beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. It’s a first-come, first-served event, so visitors should arrive early and, ideally, line up east along Stone Road.

The dealership’s Tim Capps credits 20/20 Vision’s Jody Clements for spearheading the turkey drive alongside Gabriel/Jordan Buick GMC and East Texas Premiere Buick GMC Dealers.

“They wanted to take care of people at this time of year,” Capps said, eager to offer his lot to take on the crowd. “We did it last year and it worked really well, so we decided to expand the turkey drive this year.

“It’s Jody and Courtney’s vision to help those in need, especially during the holiday period, and it aligns very well with our stewardship and our desire for our community.”
