Bulldogs seniors who have turned their sails toward college, the workforce, military service and other adventures will be in the spotlight Tuesday during another CTE Signing Day hosted here by the local business community.
The event’s spearheaded by Kilgore Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Kilgore ISD, ready to fête the soon-to-be-graduates in the Kilgore High School Gym beginning at 9:45 a.m. May 13.
“CTE Signing Day is a national event where high school students who have committed to pursuing a career and technical education program (CTE) at a college or university publicly sign a letter of intent,” according to Jill McCartney, president of the local chamber. “This event mirrors the tradition of athletic signing days, celebrating the commitment of students to their chosen career paths.”
It’s the second annual event with KISD, McCartney added, and she’s excited to bring her membership together to celebrate the teens as they await their diplomas later this month and the future to come.
“This has been a dream of mine for over 10 years, and to have it happen now for the 2nd year is more than I could of hoped for,” she noted. “And now, having the community get more involved by helping to put swag bags together for these students is just awesome for these kids. A lot of them will be hired locally and raising their families here, which is precisely what we want.”

“We have 34 students who will be signing their certificates that day with either their school of choice or the military. There will also be one student heading to Eastman, and they will have a representative on site as well. Kilgore College and Tyler Junior College will both be set up to welcome the students who will be signing with them.”
