Early voting continues today and wraps up Tuesday before Saturday’s Election Day polling for one contested race on the City of Kilgore’s Spring 2026 ballot.
Last week, 156 residents cast votes during the first four days of early voting April 20-24. Polls were closed Tuesday, April 21, for San Jacinto Day.
So far, the tally includes 118 Gregg County voters and 38 from Rusk County.

There’s just one decision on the ticket for Kilgore City Council this season as incumbent Daniel Gantt faces challenger Chip Hale for the Place 3 seat. Mayor Pro Tem Victor Boyd (Place 4) and councilman Randy Renshaw (Place 2) drew no opponents in their re-election bids.
Polls for the May 2026 General Election are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 27-28 for early voters at Kilgore City Hall (815 N. Kilgore Street). They’ll reopen 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2. Results will be tallied and posted that evening.
Poll workers at City Hall welcomed 40 voters on the first day of early voting Monday, April 20, including 30 from Gregg County and 10 from Rusk.
San Jacinto Day is a partial staffing holiday statewide. Polls reopened Wednesday, April 22, for 52 voters including 16 from Rusk County and 36 from Gregg. Thursday (April 23) saw 30 voters (26 Gregg, 4 Rusk) and there were 34 on April 24 (26 Gregg, 8 Rusk).
